Perfectly Matched
Jen and Ricky had made Mackinac Island their own special Island. Ricky fell in love with the Island that Jen’s family had visited frequently. The decision was made. Mackinac in the Fall of 2020. Life threw a curve, and they dodged and adapted. Contacting all their vendors, wedding coordinator Carole Erbel of For the Love of Mackinac, contacted Jen’s wedding vendors and all were willing to accommodate the date change to July of 2021. Mission Point Resort was the location of their accommodations and their wedding reception. The resort had worked with Carole to make sure Jen’s wedding date was available. With the wedding day selected, Carole Erbel went to work.
On the beautiful morning of the ceremony, wedding flowers from St Ignace in Bloom arrrived to the bride’s suite. The bridesmaids began at Lakeside Salon and Spa, where the bride and her attendants all had hair and make-up sessions. Following this, the bridal suite at Mission Point Resort was the setting for getting ready. Lots of photos were taken inside the suite and out on the bridal suite patio, and bridal party was on their way to the church.
All of the groomsmen received their flowers just shortly before leaving for the church, as the photographer from Island Photo began taking photos of the day. Groomsmen proudly displayed their “baseball socks” as many of the guys, including the groom had been players on the same team.
Ste Anne’s Catholic Church has a long history. History dates back the to the late 1600’s, and in 1780 Ste Anne’s was moved across the Straits of Mackinac and reconstructed on the Island. Today, there is daily mass and during the summer many weddings. Ricky and Jen and the family and friends gathered in a traditional wedding ceremony with local musicians providing piano and vocals to lead the wedding guests. Jen and Ricky exchanged their rings and vows and were pronounced husband and wife to the delight of their friends and family. Family photos in the church followed while guests departed for the reception at MIssion Point Resort.
The bride and groom were cheered on as family and onlookers watched them as board their Gough Livery wedding carriage. Downtown Main Street fun photos and by the waterfront at the boardwalk showing off the Mighty Mackinac Bridge were taken by Christi Dupre of Island Photo. Returning to Mission Point, the bridal party gathered for some more fun. Photos were taken on the Great Lawn, the gazebo and on the water before the reception began.
The reception was held in at Mission Point Resort in the Cypress Room. Ricky’s Dad created custom signs to welcome the guests. Polaroid cameras were available to take a photos of friends and family to include into the guest book. The large and beautiful cake from Bella E Dolce, along with custom macaroons were received with delight - as Jen and Ricky cut their cake and fed one another. DJ Brevin introduced the bridal party and the party was underway!
Dinner and post dinner delights were served up by the outstanding staff at Mission Point Resort. Fudge favors from Joann’s Fudge, and a late night buffet capped off the celebration as the bride and groom danced on until late into the evening.
